Google I/O 2016: New VR Headset and Future of the Cardboard

Google’s I/O 2016 begins today and the agendas for this year’s conference involves Virtual Reality, Artificial intelligence or ‘machine learning’ as the major points. This revelation has speculated many opinions on what will be Google’s efforts into the technology to compete with the forerunners of the race such as Facebook’s Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR and HTC Vive.

Google’s I/O conference which is to be held in the amphitheatre in Mountain View California will accommodate reporters and bloggers from all over the world. The keynote of the conference will be hosted by CEO Sundar Pichai which will also be featured on YouTube in a 360 degree video format giving you a complete sneak peek into the conference.

The conference will be a three day showcase with different slots divided for different genres such as VR cars to gaming and of course Android. The showcase is sure to attract a thousand of developers and programmers which is why it will serve to be the best platform for Google to discuss its future endeavors in technology to convince developers to design applications for the same.

The conference will have a variety of pointers to discuss the major ones including Android as a VR ecosystem and as an emerging OS platform which will focus on bringing new prospects in the existing technology. Then comes the elephant in the room that is the future of Google Cardboard and the idea of a perfect all in one VR headset– its possibilities, scope and challenges followed by project tango which is being designed to enhance mapping ambitions for VR along with Artificial intelligence taking the center stage.
