Experience the 1984 classic Ghostbusters in a reboot created by director Paul Feig, Ivan Reitman in collaboration with Sony Pictures and immersive tech firm The Void opening on July 1st at Madame Tussauds in New York. The movie is recreated in Virtual Reality to let the fans experience the paranormal adventure flick from a perspective more different and closer.
The VR movie Ghostbusters: Dimension is created as a first VR experience which implies that the viewer will become a Ghostbuster in the CG version in an apartment in New York within the movie. Each viewer will be provided with a specialized VR headset for the immersive experience created by The Void accompanied by a ‘Proton Pack’ to hunt the ghosts in the city.
Asked Reitman about the experience and here is what he had to say about it all, “The technology is breathtaking, the experience is thrilling and what better way is there to use VR than to let audiences inhabit the stories they love,” in a statement released on Monday.
The Ghostbusters reboot is set to open on July 15th and stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
