Terry Myerson who is the Executive Vice President of Windows and Devices Group, along with Nick Parker and Alex Kipman expressed his happiness in the celebration of the success of the Windows devices and also discussed the advantages of Windows 10 update for modern computing devices. They celebrated 300 million active devices on Windows 10 platform in which windows can see their journey with Windows 10 to deliver more personal computing, where the interaction with your devices is made as natural as humans interact with the world around them and their experiences do travel along with them and designed from the ground up with security being appreciated.
They mainly focused on the next technology which is mixed reality i.e. to break the barriers between virtual and physical reality. Imagine yourself wearing a VR device and see your physical hands are scanning and alternating a 3D image of any real object. You will be able to control your digital content very easily.
The 2020 vision for VR devices is that it is expected to reach 80 million per year. Many of today’s devices and experiences do not work with each other because of the difference in their user interfaces, interaction models, input methods, peripherals, and content.
They also announced that Windows Holographic is coming to all their virtual reality soaked devices. They have already invited their Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Original design manufacturer (ODM) and hardware partners to build PCs and other mixed reality devices with the Windows Holographic platform. This will result in more new business opportunities and experiences.
They have expressed their gratitude and excitement on working with Intel, Qualcomm, HTC, Acer, ASUS Dell, Falcon Northwest, HP, iBuyPower, Lenovo, MSI and many others also.
Windows 10 also launched a platform named windows Holographic that gives power to the mixed reality experiences available on Microsoft HoloLens today.
The work of Microsoft HoloLens started in March and customers across industries are accepting the potential of mixed reality including NASA, Volvo, Lowe’s and more. It’s a major opportunity as all holographic apps are universally accepted in windows, and all Universal Windows apps are now made compatible to work on the Windows Holographic platform.
