Vive Wireless Adapter Release Date Announced

Here comes another exciting news, HTC Vive has announced that their upcoming HTC Vive Wireless Adapter will soon be available for pre-order. This adapter allows users to free themselves from the tethering cables to their PCs. It maintains the performance required for premium virtual reality (VR) experiences both on the HTC Vive Pro and Vive.

HTC Vive has collaborated with the talented partners DisplayLink and Intel to deliver an amazing wireless experience with the Vive Wireless Adapter. The product is said to be promising to deliver a combination of high-quality, low latency, and ease of use.

The product will be retailing for 299 pounds (GBP) and is compatible with both the HTC Vive and Vive Pro head-mounted displays. The only difference in requirement being that the Vive Pro users will require an additional compatibility pack that includes a unique connection cable along with foam padding and an attachment device, specifically for the HMD. And this pack will retail for 65 additional pounds.

For setting up this wireless adapter, a PCI-e card needs to be installed and a sensor needs to be attached that will broadcast the signal to and from the wireless Vive HMDs. The broadcast range is of 6 meters with a 150-degree field of view (FOV) from the sensor. This device runs in the interference-free 60 GHz band using Intel’s WiGig specification that is combined with DisplayLink’s XR codec to ensure high-performance result with hours of battery life.

The pre-orders of this amazingly wonderful Vive Wireless Adapter start from 5th September 2018 with a release date of 24th September 2018. For the customers in the UK, it will be available from Scan, Overclockers, and Vive.com. Also, all the Vive Wireless Adapter purchases will include a two-month trial to Viveport Subscription. This offer is to celebrate the launch.
